“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and truth.”

1 John 3:16-19

One of the best ways we can show our love to God, is by loving His people. We are surrounded by a world in desperate need of a relationship with Jesus Christ. We are called to spread the Good News to all, and one of the best ways to do that is by unselfishly loving and serving those around us.  Please click on the tabs below to learn more about each of our local opportunities to serve.

We have a working relationship with Central Elementary school.

We are planning to have monthly drive programs to supply these needed products.

We hope to volunteer with the school for festivals and events where outside help is needed.

We hope to have events and invite the students/parents to come and participate and begin developing relationships with the families.

Next year we plan to participate in delivering meals.  If nothing has changed, we will go on the route the day the supplemental food boxed are delivered.

Volunteers can go daily during the summer food program to sort, pack, or deliver meals Monday through Friday on their own.

We partner with West Main Street Christian Church in Johnson City for their homeless ministry.  Each Saturday a different group provides a meal, serves, and cleans for 80-120 people.

This is a ministry that directly serves people in need.

We provide the food, supplies, and staff.

West Main also has a Worship Service on Sunday nights.  They provide the food and service, but they welcome Churches to help cook, clean, as well as provide the message and music.  Again, this is an opportunity to reach many people in need.

We have many talented and experienced professionals in our congregations as well as several less experienced who are eager to be involved helpers.

We also have people in our congregation who could use help with home repair.

We also have a big neighborhood where someone might need a helping hand (and some love).

How many people in our community are just lonely?

We have a group of people willing to visit people and make sure they know we love them.

This is one of the easiest things we can do, it just takes a little time and love.

Nursing Home/Assisted living/Senior Home Visits:

This is another service that just takes a little time and love.

You have no idea how beneficial and appreciated this can be.  Many places have a piano, or we have people who play guitar.

We have served at Broadmore in Johnson City and Ivy Hall and Life Care Center in Elizabethton.  There are also many more in the area, and most love when outside groups come in.

Every few months a group from our Church provides the meal and spends an evening feeding and spending time with homeless families in our area.

Our church partners with Hopwood Christian Church.

There is a need for people to prepare and serve the meal, as well as a need for someone to train to spend the night.

This is an opportunity to meet immediate needs and to provide good Christian fellowship for families in need.

We load up our grills, our tents, and our inflatables and reach out to a community by having a day of fellowship.

This usually involves a worship service, but in the past we have had just fellowship with a housing development in Johnson City.

This is a great opportunity to show the love of Christ to others in our community.
